BEIJING — August 29, 2025 — The School of English and International Studies (SEIS) at Beijing Foreign Studies University has three courses recognized in the Ministry of Education’s third cohort of National First-class Undergraduate Courses, following institutional nomination and expert review.
Recognized Courses:
● Narrative Writing in English — lead instructor: Yang Luxin (in-person course).
● Comparative Chinese and Western Civilizations — lead instructor: Yi Rui (in-person course).
● Understanding Contemporary China: Reading and Writing in English — lead instructor: Qi Hao (in-person course).
The recognition affirms SEIS’s ongoing work to strengthen undergraduate education through refreshed syllabi, active-learning pedagogy, and improved assessment practices, with these courses expected to serve as models across the curriculum.
With this cohort, SEIS now has 11 courses on the national first-class list. The School will continue to build high-quality offerings that cultivate globally minded graduates with strong analytical, writing, and intercultural skills.
