Translation Horizons

Translation Horizons (Fanyi Jie in Chinese) is a Chinese scholarly journal dedicated to advancing the field of translation studies through rigorous academic research. Founded in 2016 and published biannually under the editorship of Professor Sanjun Sun, the journal is sponsored by the School of English and International Studies at Beijing Foreign Studies University. We aim to serve as a platform for original research that explores various dimensions of translation and interpreting phenomena, ranging from theoretical inquiries to empirical investigations. Our mission is to bridge the gap between academic scholarship and industry practice, allowing insights from the language industry to inform translation education and research, while enabling scholarly findings to contribute to the professional development of the field.

The journal welcomes original research articles (6,000-7,000 words) that offer fresh theoretical perspectives or employ innovative methodological approaches to translation studies. While we primarily publish articles in Chinese, we also feature Chinese translations of significant English-language papers in translation studies. Our scope encompasses diverse areas including translation theory and history, translation pedagogy, comparative linguistic and cultural studies in translation contexts, research methodology, language industry and translation technology, as well as interpreting studies. We also feature interviews with distinguished translation scholars from around the world, providing readers with valuable insights into current trends and future directions in the field. All submissions are required to include Chinese and English bilingual abstracts and keywords to ensure accessibility to both Chinese and international audiences. Through maintaining high academic standards while remaining attentive to practical applications, Translation Horizons seeks to contribute meaningfully to the global conversation on translation studies.
