Journal of Literature in English
Journal Introduction:
This journal focuses on the study of literary and cultural issues in the literature of the English-speaking countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Ireland, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. It publishes original research on literary classics as well as contemporary literary works, appreciating the use of theory in the reading of literary works and cultural phenomena of major English-speaking nations. The journal provides a valuable publication platform for scholars home and abroad and showcases the latest achievements in English literary studies in China.
Journal of Literature in English is founded by Beijing Foreign Studies University in 2017 and is edited by Zhang Jian (Editor-in-Chief) and Chen Li (Deputy Editor-in-Chief), with an editorial board of 20 scholars chaired by Zhang Zhongzai.
It is a scholarly journal dedicated to research on literature written in English. Each issue features literary theory, literary theme, research article, book review, and interview, covering the literature and cultural theories of major English-speaking countries (including the UK, the US, Ireland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand) and nations where English is an official language. The journal emphasizes theory and criticism in original research on classical as well as contemporary literary works. Each issue publishes 14 contributions, including 13 original research articles and 1 book review and/or 1 interview. No publication fees are charged. Scholars from around the world are welcome to submit their work!
Submission Guidelines:
(1) Original research articles should present new critical views or adopt new theoretical perspectives or research methods, exhibiting narrative clarity, good focused central thesis, sound arguments based on evidence. Length: 10,000–16,000 Chinese characters.
(2) Book reviews should primarily address English literary theoretical and critical works published within the past three years, offering a research-oriented evaluation of the book’s topic, characteristics, methodology, contribution to its research field, and shortcomings. Length: 8,000–12,000 Chinese characters.
(3) Interviews should feature the views and research achievements of well-known domestic or international scholars and critics. Length: 10,000 Chinese characters.
