Center for Literatures in English
The Center for Literatures in English evolved from the Teaching and Research Section for British and American Literature, established in 1984 with Professor Qian Qing as its founding director. It later developed into the Research Center for British and American Literature and was renamed the Center for Literatures in English in 2025. As one of the earliest disciplinary research centers within the English Department at Beijing Foreign Studies University, the Center has consistently dedicated itself to the research and teaching of English literatures. Currently, the Center employs 31 full-time faculty members, including 10 professors, 14 associate professors, and 7 lecturers. All faculty have received solid academic training from prestigious universities both in China and abroad, each possessing distinct expertise in fields such as literary theory, British/American fiction, poetry, drama, narratology, and cultural studies.
