cademic Engagement2Before the dissertation defense, participate in no fewer than 20 academic activities within the primary or secondary discipline(s), including: presenting two conference papers; delivering one public academic lecture; and attending symposiums, workshops, or research talks. After each activity, submit a brief written summary signed by the supervisor; file all records with the School before applying for the defense.
Research & Publications2Under the supervisor’s guidance, formulate a feasible research plan and conduct sustained research. Before graduation, publish two peer-reviewed articles related to the field with Beijing Foreign Studies University as the first institutional affiliation. Authorship should be either the candidate as first/corresponding author, or the supervisor/BFSU faculty as first author with the candidate as second/corresponding author. At least one article must be published in a CSSCI source journal or a journal indexed by SSCI, SCI, A&HCI, or EI.
