Zhao Dong

ZHAO Dong is an Associate Professor at the School of English and International Studies, BFSU. He has been a visiting scholar at the Center for the Study of World Religions, Harvard University (2015–2016), and the Department of English, Yale University (2003–2004) under national government sponsorship.

OVERSEAS EXPERIENCE

• He has lectured at institutions including the University of Ljubljana, Sofia University, the Belgian Eurasian Studies Institute, and the National Academy of Governance in China. He has also conducted short-term academic research and collaborations at institutions such as the University of Calgary, the University of Prince Edward Island, Lancaster University, and Central European University in Hungary.

RESEARCH PROJECTS

• Dr. Zhao is currently leading a National Social Science Foundation – Chinese Academic Literature Translation & Publishing Project, Time and the Ancient World of East Asia, and has independently completed other projects, including the National Social Science Foundation – Chinese Academic Literature Translation & Publishing Project Religious Faith of the Chinese, The Construction of English Courses on Chinese Buddhist Culture (Beijing Municipal Education Commission), International Experiences in De-Radicalization and Implications for China (Ministry of Education), and Canada’s Ethnic and Religious Policies and Their Lessons for China (Ministry of Education).

SCHOLARLY WORKS

• His published works include the English monograph The Bible and Spenser's Faerie Queene (2008), the English translation of Religious Faith of the Chinese (2019), the Chinese-to-English poetry collection Starlight Beyond the Milky Way (2022), and The Beauty of the Semi-Simple (2024). He has also served as the chief editor or co-editor for over 20 English textbooks for university English majors, including Selections of British and American Poetry. He has published nearly 20 English papers in international journals.
