Luan Shuo was born and raised in Beijing. He began learning Fijian in 2018 and studied under two pre-eminent Pacific linguists, Professor Albert Schütz and Professor Paul Geraghty. As the first author, he co-compiled Introduction to Spoken Fijian and the Fijian-Chinese Dictionary with Professor Geraghty. In 2022, he launched the first Fijian course in China.
